Stretch beyond your limits
That was the direction given to me today by my favorite yoga teacher while I was positioned in "Warrier Two" with my feet planted, front leg bent ("knee over ankle to prevent injury" as she always says) and back leg outstretched. I reached my arms out towards the front and back of the room - as far as I thought they could go. But then I got that prompt, "stretch beyond your limit" and I reached further. I felt them lengthen and grow - beyond what I thought I could do. And as my yoga teacher commented that this was also a good statement for life, I had already agreed hang it up wall and refer to it when I think I have done all I could do - and remember that feeling.
